Excellent food one of the best Peking duck I've ever had. Fried rice, whitefish and green beans were also excellent. Service was good although our waitress was clearly inexperienced. She was attentive just needed some additional training. This is a beautiful restaurant and checked all the boxes for food and ambiance you would expect. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the paper napkins!

I heard about ShiangMi, an upscale Hunan restaurant, from both my family and Chinese friends still living in Metro Detroit. The interior is modern and elevated, and the service was attentive. My married friends and I made a reservation (via OpenTable) for dinner yesterday, and we ordered food pretty quickly. One by one, the dishes arrived pretty soon after. We ordered a chicken appetizer from the seasonal menu, though I can't recall its exact name. The chicken reminded me of Hainanese chicken, with tender thigh meat and smooth skin. It was topped with sesame seeds and braised in a soy sauce-based sauce that was quite oily. While the chicken texture was perfect, we found the flavors to be a bit bland and the sauce didn't add much to it. S1 HAPPY FAMILY SOUP - 38 The chicken and pork broth was creamy, and it came with plenty of toppings like pork belly, pork trip, egg roll wrapped with meat, wood ear, quail eggs, and goji berries. The soup was flavorful and comforting without being overly rich. We enjoyed it, and each of us were able to get at least two bowls' worth, with some leftovers. We definitely would recommend the soup here. M4 STIR FRIED PORK W/ SHISHITO - 22 This is one of my friend's favorite dishes here, and he mentioned it's a Hunan classic. There are plenty of shishito peppers, probably more than the pork itself. The pork loin is thinly sliced, well-crisped, with a bit of heat, and seasoned perfectly with fermented black bean. This was quite delicious, and we'd definitely recommend it. V1 SAUTEED CABBAGE - 16 The sautéed cabbage isn't extraordinary, but if you're looking for a vegetable option and enjoy cabbage, it's a pretty good choice. The cabbage was stir-fried with dried chili and a tasty sauce. I personally enjoyed it, and it's one of my friend's favorites. M1 BLACK TRUFFLE SAUTE FREE RANGE CHICKEN - 29 The nicely seared chicken thighs were cooked with onions in a stone bowl. Upon first inhale (even before taking a bite), I could already taste the buttery, truffle flavors on my tongue. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, and I enjoyed this one too. The dishes we got here did not disappoint, and I'm glad I got to experience the food here with friends who know what to order. I've also heard good things about their Cantonese options, like the lobster and scallops, so I'll have to try those in the future.

Words cannot describe how good this place is! Frequently, when I hear of Chinese food I think of a strip mall establishment that is primarily carry out. ShiangMi is the complete opposite. It's an upper class restaurant with REAL traditional Hunan style food. The atmosphere is spectacular as is the food. Highly, highly, highly recommend!

Food here was very tasteful and very carefully crafted together. The cook spent attention to details and taste buds. I would say I'm not impressed with the bamboo soup dish but that's because I prefer mine a certain way (sour). Other than that, I loved the other 2 dishes I ordered. Two people. 3 dishes. Crazy

We never have trouble getting a table at this family style Chinese restaurant. Do not miss out on the soup dumplings here. Most everything is delicious.

Finally got to try out this new Hunan restaurant and it did not disappoint! The decor and ambiance is beautiful and warm. The service was also very good. Food was delicious and flavorful, without being too spicy for me. I love the spices they use! Portions are on the smaller side for the price, but the quality and service makes it worth it!

We finally decided to try this place. Ambiance: very well decorated as old-fashion high-end Hunan restaurant. Dark atmosphere. Big mirror at entrance. Tsingtao beer lining wall in one area. Secluded booths and tables. Lower level bathroom. Elevator. They put a lot of work into the interior design for sure. Service: We were one of two parties eating late Sunday evening. There were couple waiters for us. Whenever you needed something they came running, lol. Recommendations of the menu were given. Food: This is truly a unique high-end authentic Chinese (Hunan) restaurant. I highly recommend trying this place at least once if you're in the area and have the budget. All dishes were quite unique and delicious. The fish was the star, on top of a lighted candle and nicely filleted white fish. We got the lamb dish which was skin-on bone-on - it was very unique as we don't usually have lamb that way and it was delicious! Sauce was very flavorful. Beef stir-fry was also good with very thinly sliced beef and slightly spicy. We also go t a pork + mushroom dish - wow! so good! Each dish reminds me of grandma-style cooking. Nice, relaxing, and mixes perfectly with rice. The only dish that was very mediocre was the cucumber appetizer which was supposed to include Lilly which, yes, was unique but so few that it didn't seem worth $10. Value: All-in-all given the high price point I thought it was such a unique experience and delicious one that I thought it was mostly worth it. The portions were not that small. The dishes were not too salty, but it was huge in flavor. Kid-Friendliness: They don't have a separate kid menu but non-spicy dishes were appreciated by the kid. Will be back if the occasion brings us to it. Menu: each dish has a picture. There are limited items and I feel we could eventually try all items. Menu was designed with care and highlighted the strengths of the chef.

Not bad for a Chinese restaurant, but the price point made me hoping for more. The indoor decor and atmosphere is great. The service was slow and the dishes came out super slow while we were the first table seated in the restaurant during a Saturday lunch and the place is not crowded at all. Not sure what they were busy with. We got the braised pork belly, which is excellent, and seems every table has one. The stir-fried beef with cilantro is tasty but has way too much cilantro than beef. The boneless chicken with black bean sauce is OK for me but my husband liked it more. The portion is on the smaller end, especially when you consider the price point.
